Most recently Karl has attained his Higher Rights of audience to represent clients at any Criminal Court in England & Wales.

Karl has worked at Mortons Solicitors since 2009 after gaining a Law Degree & completing the Legal Practice Course.  He has risen from legal assistant to an accredited police station representative, crown court clerk and has now become a fully fledged criminal solicitor-advocate in his own right.  Karl has quickly proven to be a valued and capable member of our team and has continued to be promoted accordingly.

His enthusiasm for criminal defence work is unrivalled, and notwithstanding his comparatively limited years experience he has spent every available moment increasing his knowledge of his chosen field and worked on our biggest cases. 

Karl is an accredited police station representative and on a daily basis attends police stations across the Greater Manchester, Cheshire and by request occasionally further afield.  Both day and night he is eager to legally advise and assist clients. Karl’s dedication and thorough approach enables him to achieve results others couldn’t even envisage. He undertakes legal research to support our other solicitors criminal & motoring lawyers in the firm and it is something which he is particularly skilled.

In addition to being qualified as a Solicitor representing clients at Magistrates & Youth Courts, Karl has obtained his higher rights of audience allowing him to represent clients at any Criminal Court in England and Wales including Criminal Court of Appeal.

As a crown court clerk Karl has an ever increasing Crown Court portfolio of his own, instructing and assisting members of the independent bar and instructing experts.

In addition Karl continues to support the Solicitors & Senior Crown Court clerks in every aspect of their casework.  Karl is a real team player and a very capable set of hands.  Karl works in the Magistrates Court and Police Stations on a daily basis.

2015 has without doubt been a very busy year for Karl having completed the last months of his training contract at Higgins Miller family solicitors, been in London studying for the Criminal Higher Rights Advocacy qualification, continuing with Crown Court casework AND in between providing expert criminal legal representation at police stations across North West England.

Karl has notably been representing clients at police stations for some of the most serious and heinous allegations including Murder, Conspiracies, Wounding/Grievous Bodily Harm With Intent, prohibited firearms and armed robberies.  Mostly significantly however is that he been representing large numbers of new clients for serious recent & historical sexual offences in the wake of (but unrelated to) the Jimmy Saville revelations.  Karl has shown great ability for handling all serious cases diligently and discreetly.  Mortons Solicitors specialise in handling these sorts of cases and increasingly are being referred work by other clients falsely accused.

Karl has a particular interest in representing clients alleged to have committed internet and/or computer based crimes with the knowledge to enable to articulate even to lay people computer terminology and concepts.  As a result he has provided legal advice at the police station to a significant number anxious defendants interviewed regarding social media & revenge porn offences, offences under the computer misuse act (hacking) and distribution and/or possession of indecent images.  For the latter representing clients for between one and a million images.

Karl particularly excels at breaking down complex legal matters to be easily understandable. Clients particularly appreciate his abilty to individually tailoring his advice to each client, In particular for clients who have never been in a police station or arrested before, and as a result Karl is gaining a well deserved reputation.

In his spare time he also helps with our website content and social media activity ensuring Mortons Solicitors can reach those in desperate need of criminal legal represenation.

Karl is a member of SAHCA - The Solicitors’ Association of Higher Courts Advocates.
