Criminal Legal Aid Contract 2017
Mortons Solicitors are delighted to confirm that we have been successfully awarded by the Legal Aid Agency a Criminal Legal Aid Contract for 2017. This enables the team at Mortons Solicitors to continue with their excellent work defending clients accused of serious criminal offences, sexual offences, motoring and regulatory offences.

Since the new drug driving offence was introduced last year, Mortons Solicitors have represented a large number of defendants charged with drug driving across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire Courts.
Admin Assistant / Reception Vacancy
We are a busy firm of specialist criminal defence lawyers seeking to recruit an administrative assistant/receptionist. The role will involve using a computer, but mainly receiving and channelling telephone calls and taking messages. Training will be provided on using our case management system, opening files.

Macclesfield Courthouse Closing – Most Cases To Stockport
Macclesfield Magistrates Court will close before the end of September. The Courthouse served East Cheshire including Macclesfield, Congleton areas.
Oldham Magistrates’ Court To Close
The 23rd September 2016 is the day set for closure of Oldham Magistrates Court. All cases are being transferred to Tameside Magistrates Court (Ashton-Under-Lyne). Trafford Magistrates’ Court Closed
Trafford Magistrates’ Court has now closed with cases for that courthouse now moved to Manchester Magistrates Court. Further court closures are in progress.
Buxton Magistrates’ Court Closed
Unfortunately Buxton Magistrates Court closed on 29th June 2016. The Courthouse served North-West Derbyshire including High Peak areas.
